The Tunisian government has given associations authorized in microfinance the deadline of December 31, 2021 to comply with Decree No. 117 of 2011, relating to the organization of the activity of companies specializing in microfinance.
This extension was dictated by a government decree published by the Ministry of Finance in the Official Journal of the Republic of Tunisia (JORT) n ° 16 of the year 2020 (February 25, 2020). It was preceded by a first extension decreed on January 19, 2017 under a government decree.
Article 58 of Decree No. 117 of 2011, dated November 5, 2011 comprising 59 articles, stipulates the granting to these associations of a period of a maximum of one year to regularize their situation.
The government has developed, with the support of the private sector, microfinance given the lack of funding for many social strata, through the promulgation of a legal and structural arsenal specific to this sector.
